Bengali Typing - A Comprehensive Guide PART 3: Typing Conjunct Characters
What are Conjunct Characters (Juktakkhor)?
Bengali has many words where two consonants merge together to form a single sound. These are called conjunct letters (Juktakkhor - যুক্তাক্ষর).
For example:
- ক + ষ = ক্ষ (kṣa)
- ত + র = ত্র (tra)
- ন + ন = ন্ন (nna)
- ন + দ = ন্দ (nda)
How to Type Conjunct Characters?
- Use the "halant" (্) symbol to remove the vowel sound from the first consonant.
- Then type the second consonant to form the conjunct character.
Example:
- ত + ্ + র = ত্র (tra)
