MS Excel - Move Data

Moving Data Around in Microsoft Excel

Excel's flexibility extends to the seamless movement of data within a worksheet. Here's how to harness the power of data relocation:

Cut and Paste:

Select the data you want to move, right-click, choose "Cut," navigate to the destination cell, right-click, and select "Paste." This method physically moves the data.

Copy and Paste:

For duplicating data in a new location, use "Copy" instead of "Cut" in the above process.

Drag and Drop:

Hover over the border of the selected cells until the cursor becomes a four-sided arrow. Drag the cells to the desired location and release the mouse button.

Insert and Fill:

Insert new rows or columns and use AutoFill to populate them with existing data, effectively shifting the surrounding information.

Mastering the art of moving data allows you to adapt and reorganize your Excel worksheets with finesse.
