MS Word - Copy / Cut / Paste Basics

Copy, Cut and Paste are basic editing functions in Microsoft Word that allow users to duplicate or move text and other content within a document or between documents. These tools help reorganize information quickly without retyping.

Copy Function
Copy creates a duplicate of selected content and places it on the clipboard while keeping the original content in its place. This is useful when the same text, image or table needs to appear in multiple locations.

Cut Function
Cut removes the selected content from its original position and stores it on the clipboard. It is mainly used when moving content from one place to another inside the document or to a different document.

Paste Function
Paste inserts the content stored on the clipboard into a new location. The pasted content can be placed anywhere the cursor is positioned, allowing flexible editing and rearrangement of information.

Clipboard Role
The clipboard temporarily stores copied or cut items. Word allows users to reuse clipboard content multiple times until it is replaced. This makes repetitive editing tasks faster and more efficient.

Why These Functions Are Important
Copy, Cut and Paste save time, reduce typing effort and minimize errors. They are essential for editing, formatting and organizing documents efficiently, especially when working with large amounts of text or data.
