MS Word - Text Basics in Microsoft Word
1. Typing and Inserting Text
- Insertion Point: The blinking vertical line shows where your text will appear.
- Start Typing: Just begin typing at the insertion point.
- Move Cursor: Use arrow keys or click with your mouse to reposition the cursor.
2. Selecting Text
- Click and Drag: Highlight text by clicking and dragging your mouse.
- Keyboard Shortcut: Hold
Shift
and use arrow keys. - Double-click: Selects a word.
- Triple-click: Selects a paragraph.
3. Cut, Copy, and Paste
- Cut:
Ctrl + X
removes selected text. - Copy:
Ctrl + C
duplicates selected text. - Paste:
Ctrl + V
inserts copied/cut text at the cursor.
4. Formatting Text
- Font Style & Size: Change from the Home tab.
- Bold/Italic/Underline: Use
Ctrl + B
,Ctrl + I
,Ctrl + U
. - Text Color: Select from the font color dropdown.
5. Undo and Redo
- Undo:
Ctrl + Z
reverses your last action. - Redo:
Ctrl + Y
re-applies the undone action.
